Inevitable

Just Stop Oil are determined to piss off those they are trying to reach.

A furious passer-by confronted Just Stop Oil protesters today after a ranting man hurled a female activist to the ground and smashed another’s phone.

Police have shut down at least three marches by the demonstrators who targeted London’s streets for the fifth day this week.

One passer-by who said he had worked in the fossil fuel industry told a protester: ‘You’re talking c**p… so f*** off.’

In another protest almost 20 Just Stop Oil demonstrators wearing hi-vis vests and holding orange banners flocked to Mansell Street in east London.

Footage filmed from a window above the street showed the moment a passer-by took matters into his own hands and started snatching the protesters’ banners.

This was bound to happen sooner or later, much like the boiling over of tempers on the underground a couple of years back. These arseholes are inconveniencing ordinary people going about their business. They are making demands on a government that is already doing what they want – just too slowly for them. Never mind the damage it will do to our economy, people’s lives and livelihoods, the narrative is what counts. And, so, eventually, the ordinary citizen driven to distraction and the lack of effective policing will do something about it.

  1. The police are there to catch criminals (and let’s not forget that obstructing the highway is a crime). But criminals were caught before Robert Peel came up with any ideas on the subject. Having a police force is better because theoretically they act with calm reason, unlike angry citizens. The Met Police, by permitting Just Stop Oil to do this sort of thing, are giving up their whole raison d’étre. If that goes on and the angry citizens start to organise and take basic security precautions (wear masks, leave their phones behind etc.), London is heading for Vigilance Committees, lynch mobs and possibly outright gangsterism.

      • There’s also an argument going on in Scotland over an 11 year old kid with a knife who was Tasered.

But what are you going to do otherwise? Go hands on or use an ASP? Either can inflict more damage and require the police to get close and risk injury.

    • The Police are there to protect the criminals by ensuring summary justice is not given out without evidence and to prevent injustice being visited on an innocent person. It is the Polices’ job to investigate, collect evidence and present the case to a judge and jury in a dispassionate hearing in court.

The Biblical “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” was not meant to encourage revenge and the typical feuding but as a restraint on the Law. In other words, the punishment had to be proportional to the original crime. Killing someone for losing a tooth is NOT proportionate but making the assailant suffer the same injury as the person assaulted is. Hence the “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” warning.

Of course, nowadays, the Police have abandoned that role and Sir Robert Peel’s principles of policing are a quaint relic of an less “enlightened” age. Nowadays, they are more social justice warriors and the uniformed branch of the Labour party.

  2. Who is responsible for planting the absurd idea that oil is harmful in these people’s heads? Anti CO2 propaganda is pretty much universal. The failure of the Earth to heat up as predicted by global warming theory has left us with every media outlet claiming that every extreme weather event is more evidence of dangerous climate change with every western government cheering them on. It is sad that the vast majority of people are so profoundly ignorant as to not be aware that extreme weather events are nothing new but are totally normal. Ignorant fools like XR and JSO who believe that they have a duty to save us all from thermaggeddon are the inevitable result.

Edited to add the most recent pack of lies from the BBC.

  3. If I was a government that wanted to bring in new laws to stop anyone protesting about anything. I would fund some groups, to protest in an annoying way, to piss off as many people as possible, so as to bring that legislation through Parliament. Therefore getting cheers from the people who were pissed off. Not realising that they would be banned from protesting on something that they themselves feel is more important to them. Pick your own grievance, something you disliked happening over the last few years perhaps.

    • I’ve heard this theory before. Three years ago, I’d have laughed at it.
      exercising
It’s interesting that if you watch footage of the coppers gingerly “confronting” JSO, their response is always that they’re “exercising their right to protest”. It’s almost as if that’s the real message. And the rozzers never seem to remind them that there’s a difference between exercising your right to walk on the King’s Highway and causing an obstruction, preventing others (and those licenced to drive motor vehicles) from exercising theirs.

  4. The Bologna floods might just as well have been caused by altered wind patterns due to wind turbines removing kinetic energy from the atmosphere.

I mean, they are unprecedented, aren’t they???????????

    • Possibly but it’s more likely that it’s just weather. Weather systems are chaotic and unpredictable and sometimes you can get floods or draughts, destructive high winds or whatever. How can anyone not be aware that such things are not new but have always happened. MSM news reports always strongly imply that such events are becoming ever more frequent and more severe. They don’t come outright and say it because it simply isn’t true.

    • “Who didn’t see this coming?”

“Germany’s transport minister has been making a good argument: what’s the point in electric cars if the power that drives them comes from burning coal?”

Well this guy presumably. If it has taken him until now to work out that particular piece of the bleeding obvious.

  5. If these arseholes are really serious about stopping oil, why do they carry banners made from a product of oil? Why are they wearing clothes, the manufacture of which, requires oil? How do they get to these demonstrations without using a form of transport which requires oil (even pedal cycles need lubrication)? Either they are complete hypocrites or morons, or they are actors paid by Soros, or someone of his ilk, to destroy a democratic society, so one can be imposed in his image. I’m just surprised Thompson or de Caprisun hasn’t turned up yet.
