A big ‘fuck you‘ to the ideologues.
Ricky Gervais has defended making jokes about “taboo subjects” after his new Netflix special drew criticism.
In SuperNature, the stand-up comedian makes a string of what he describes as ironic and satirical jokes about trans people, female comedians and Aids.
I’ve not seen the whole show, but I’ve seen enough to realise that this is funny because it isn’t a joke. A bit like Libs of Tik Toc, Gervais is holding a mirror up to the trans activists. What he says is exactly what they say. He is using their words, which is why people laugh as they are allowed to see the absolute contradictory absurdity of it all. Which is why the alphabetti spaghetti are pissed off.
US LGBT rights group Glaad labelled the show “dangerous”, “anti-gay” and “anti trans” after its release on Tuesday.
These idiots always try to claim that it is dangerous to hold their insane ideology up to the light. Dangerous to laugh and joke about them. It’s nothing of the sort. The only things that get hurt are their fragile egos and their ability to control the narrative.
However, Glaad took issue with his latest routine, with officials posting on the group’s Twitter page: “It’s full of graphic, dangerous, anti-trans rants masquerading as jokes. He also spouts anti-gay rhetoric an spreads inaccurate information about HIV.”
They also said Netflix “refuses” to enforce its own policy that content “designed to incite hate or violence” is not allowed on its platform.
That would be because it isn’t hate, nor does it incite violence. It incites ridicule, which is perfectly okay. That’s what jokes do.
What we are seeing here is the beginning of a backlash. I posted a takedown of a trans ideologue on Farcebook a week or so ago. I’ve noticed that every time this subject crops up, more and more people are feeling emboldened enough to take these people down – hence a justification for my doing it. A small act on my part, but if it encourages others, then I’ve done my bit. A frequent response when their risible arguments are systematically destroyed is for the person involved to go in and delete all their comments and start blocking. Okay, fine, as far as I’m concerned, that’s job done. In their own echo chambers, they are used to having it all their own way, but their attempts to cancel people are going to become more difficult as the majority starts to push back. Their reaction to reasonable people being exposed to their insanity is shock and again when they realise that the transfauxbia slur doesn’t work like kryptonite. When that backlash builds a decent head of steam, employers and venues will start to detect the direction of the wind and act accordingly. It might take a while yet, but slowly, I am seeing a change and Gervais is at the head of that change at the moment, so good for him. Glaad can go fuck themselves.
Transphobia is a made up word just like Islamophobia.
Hence the bastardisation of it to transfauxbia. If it pisses these bastards off, then that’s a win.
According to the Telegraph Ricky said ‘my target wasn’t trans folk, but trans activist ideology’. Quite so but no surprise that trans activist ideologues like Glaad don’t like what he said. Of course they have to pretend that they are defending trans people but they aren’t. All they are defending is their own toxic ideology.
