Little Victories

It would seem that Devon is a target for the wokesters. Last year they wanted to do away with Bideford’s little white town moniker – so called because the buildings were painted white. That has been dropped. Now Darkey Lane is in trouble.

A narrow village street could be renamed amid complaints of racism from visitors to the area.

What racism?

Darkey Lane in the Devon village of Lifton was originally given its name because it is a sunken, tree-lined dark lane.

Riiiight, so not racist at all.

The council said two visitors to the area – one of whom is of Caribbean heritage – had been left “shocked and extremely upset” by the name.

There are things in this world that are shocking, but this isn’t one of them. This is deliberate offence taking by people with no real problems in their lives and the appropriate response to such people is a short, two word instruction involving sex and travel.

Which, it seems is what they’ve got

Despite calls for an ‘offensive’ road name in Liften to be renamed, the residents instead voted to keep things are they are instead.

Good.

The council unanimously accepted the consultation result and resolved to close the complaint with no further action being taken to change the name of Darkey Lane.

Maybe next time, simply tell the complainants to bugger off and stick their offence where it hurts the most? People are not obliged to pander to these people and the sooner we stop doing it, the better for all concerned.

  1. Linlithgow in Scotland has a pub or inn in existence since 17th century.
It’s name for all that time has been the Black Bitch.
It is a lovely pub. Dogs, and bitches, are permitted in the public bar. The beer is good. It occasionally hosts folk singing.
Now Greene King, who have recently taken over the company that owned the pub want to change the name. The locals are not happy.
The symbol of Linlithgow is a black female greyhound chained to the single tree on a small island in the middle of Linlithgow Loch.
This relates to legend that the life of a man who was chained to the same tree was kept alive by his faithful black birch swimming out with food for him. When this was discovered the bitch was chained to the tree.
Any one, regardless of sex, creed or colour born within the town boundary is proud to be known as a Black Bitch.
    Alex Salmond is one.
There is a petition on the go to stop this. Please search, find and “sign”.
Linlithgow has history. Mary Queen of Scots was born there. Scottish royalty decamped to Linlithgow in summer when Edinburgh got a bit smelly, right up until James the one and six (seven and a half pence in new money) moved to London.

  2. Look at any TV ad, and what do you see? White people of different colours.

But the reality of these different coloured white people is beyond jarring.

I just can’t (and will never be able to) get my head round the sense of utter inferiority needed to even dream of making such a “complaint”.

    • Mark – dare I suggest that it isn’t a feeling of inferiority in the so-called victims, its a feeling of contempt for, and superiority over, the so-calked victims by those complaining. White, middle-class liberals who campaign against such “offence” are the real bigots. The 99% of us who don’t take offence at things like this usually don’t see colour.

      • There is undoubtedly an element of this, but it could just as easily be a rationalisation. Only one of the whingers was black, and it’s probably not too hard to guess what the other was.

Black lying murderers, “critical race theory”, these are essentially US perversions which have absolutely no place here (or anywhere else). Lammy, Abbott for example are nothing else and they are elected time and again because of their obsession with this shite – by white liberals?

And then there are the “blackademics” with their retarded semi-literate garbage.

Ten years ago, five years ago, I would have agreed with you completely. I was, and am, more than happy not to see colour, but unfortunately colour won’t leave me alone.

In the real world, it’s not just grift. These people want to completely rewrite and claim our history and turn me, and anybody else white, into little more than glorified helots in a theme park that exists purely for their convenience.

There are signs that people are getting sick of it and this is indeed a victory (no fighting is needed though, just ignore them). I don’t know what this country will look like ten or twenty years from now, but the well has been poisoned, and it will probably never be fully clean again.

I really do find it difficult to put into cogent English just how much I loath and despise the zealot destroyers

Yes and no. In the case of this complaint a robust refusal was what was needed, not a pandering consultation. You simply give their complaints no credence and make no bones about it. Basically, fuck off and when you get there, fuck off again until you get back here, then fuck off again.

  4. Dear Mr Longrider

Devonshire, eh? Same as this one:

    “Piracy

Over the next few centuries, the island was hard to govern. Trouble followed as both English and foreign pirates and privateers – including other members of the Marisco family – took control of the island for short periods. Ships were forced to navigate close to Lundy because of the dangerous shingle banks in the fast flowing River Severn and Bristol Channel, with its tidal range of 27 feet (8.2 metres),[23][24] one of the greatest in the world.[25][26] This made the island a profitable location from which to prey on passing Bristol-bound merchant ships bringing back valuable goods from overseas.[27]

In 1627 a group known as the Salé Rovers, from the Republic of Salé (now Salé in Morocco) occupied Lundy for five years. These Barbary Pirates, under the command of a Dutch renegade named Jan Janszoon, flew an Ottoman flag over the island. Slaving raids were made embarking from Lundy by the Barbary Pirates, and captured Europeans were held on Lundy before being sent to Algiers to be sold as slaves.[28][29][30][31] From 1628 to 1634, in addition to the Barbary Pirates, the island was plagued by privateers of French, Basque, English and Spanish origin targeting the lucrative shipping routes passing through the Bristol Channel. These incursions were eventually ended by Sir John Penington, but in the 1660s and as late as the 1700s the island still fell prey to French privateers.[32] “

Barbary slave raids alive and well on our doorstep until the 17th century. Who knew?

  5. At Least the Exeter people aren’t trying to change the name of Blackboy Road, one of the main routes into town, unlike in Reading, where the Black Boy pub is now called the Shinfield Arms! needless to say, I haven’t been in it since
