Of Course

Nasty fascists behave like nasty fascists.

The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) has warned that “stringent” measures could be needed to combat the emergence of the omicron variant.

Here we go. Hospital admissions are down. Deaths are down. But we need more of the same failed policies that didn’t work before because reasons.

Although the advisers acknowledged that there is still uncertainty about the threat this variant poses, they said there could be a “potential need for stringent response measures”.

Right. So these cretins have no idea if there is likely to be a reversal with this variant – that (a) isn’t new and (b) has so far proven to be less virulent than previous ones. That is, this is normal. What we are seeing from government, its advisers and the media is blatant scaremongering.

And still these vile creatures are given airspace to peddle their poison instead of being strung up from the nearest lamp post which is what should be happening to them.

This comes as Boris Johnson clashed with scientists over how to respond to omicron, urging the public not to scrap social plans in the run-up to Christmas.

The government has so far failed to grasp one basic fact. It hasn’t the means to control an airborne pathogen. Yet still it behaves as if it is within its control. Even presuming that it is within its authority to do so. And still the masses hang on every ridiculous statement uttered by these morons. And still the wander about in the open air with these stupid, useless masks on their faces like the superstitious dolts that they are.

My misanthropy is in overdrive at the moment.

  1. Got to the station this morning to be met by a sign saying face coverings are mandatory and the maximum fine is £6,400.

And in very small print at the bottom – “unless you are exempt”.

  2. My misanthropy is in overdrive at the moment.

Mine too. And not only because I stand to lose my job (and home – damned Company Store trap) if I don’t shoot up like a junkie on the whim of the senile corruptocrat currently in power. And I’m not sure my Diversity Equity Inclusion hand is strong enough for my religious exemption application to be accepted.

    • I saw that one when it came out. Never mind that she is talking sense. Never mind that this is not a new variant, merely newly isolated and never mind that it is mild as you would expect, let’s panic anyway. God, I hate these people and the cretins who hang on their every word.

Maybe Leggy and I should club together to buy that island and secede from the rest of humanity.

  3. Unscientific poll on the way home. Can see 10 people. One maskless. Two wearing over mouth only leaving nose uncovered. Three of those pathetic disposable paper masks that cost 99p per hundred. Six wearing reuseable cloth coverings.

Constant PA announcents that you must wear a face covering. Unless exempt……

  4. Went into Sainsburys without a few hours ago and at a guess I reckon 90+% had face nappies.

No signs, reminders, minions waiting at the door etc. I just went in as normal and walked around as normal. I didn’t make a point of not having a mask but I was observing and not one with a mask – so far as I could tell – gave me so much as a second glance.

If somebody did challenge, I would, of course have been polite. If a staff member had asked, I would have put the mask on that I had in my pocket.

Having made my protest, I wouldn’t have got anal or “sovereign citizen” with anybody.

I’ll be watching with interest the shenanigans in the various provinces of toy town Austria-Hungary and the good ol US of A.

Was over at the BBC, looking at the comments on one of the threads. It is the sheer, psychotic raging hate in so many of the comments that is both laughable and frightening. What empty, ignorant impotence you need to hate – and I don’t doubt that hate for a second – people who disagree about what is, for the overwhelming majority, a bad form of flu, I honestly can’t get my head round.

Unfortunately, it only seems to be these loud mouthed bigots that Boris and his minions seem to acknowledge.

If you want a man Friday on your island……

    • This covid thing is unfortunately the only thing most of the losers have that give them some sense of significance in their otherwise empty losers lives.

Explains how totalitarian dictatorships are possible.

    • The mandate never stopped here in Scotland, and it’s been like that all along. I felt a bit apprehensive when I decided to stop covering my face a few months back (around the time it was lifted in England), but I’ve only been challenged twice: both times in church, by members of the same family.

  5. Where are you lot living? Here in the NW it is the other way around. Visited Asda and Morrison and only about 6 people, all wimmin, were wearing masks. Signs up but nobody was asking anything. Apparently due to Doris’s latest edict the staff have to wear them but otherwise it is mainly maskless. If asked I would claim exemption and if pushed I would walk out. When it first came in, over a year ago, I just said I was exempt and that was it only one old woman at McDonalds questioned it and when I asked her Doctors qualifications she got all huffy and I simply walked out.

  6. I’ve just been on a quick beer run to Asda. My experience was similar to the one Mark reports. No signs, about 90% masked, no one hassled me. My approach was the same as Mark, had a mask in my pocket and would have worn it if anyone asked me, nobody did.
