Oh, Fer Gawd’s Sake

Stop apologising to these morons.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid has apologised after saying people should no longer “cower” from coronavirus.

He made the comments in a tweet announcing he had made a “full recovery” from Covid, a week after testing positive.

Labour accused him of denigrating those who followed the rules, while the founder of a victims’ group said his comments were “deeply insensitive”.

Mr Javid said: “It was a poor choice of word and I sincerely apologise.”

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! At this rate every word in the English language will offend someone. Never apologise to these people. The usage was fine. If people took offence, it’s because they are professional offendatrons. Stop appeasing this behaviour.

  1. This bollocks is half the reason no one in the public eye, and a hell of percentage not in said eye, don’t speak their minds or say what they mean and all they do utter are platitudes.

  2. He should not have apologised. The brainwashed general populace are cowering from a virus which, in the main, causes a mild infection. If you are an old wretch with one or more illnesses it will kill you. So will ‘flu and so will a cold. That’s the curse of a long life. Nothing has changed there.

      • Yes some, but by no means do most of the official underlying conditions increase the risk for younger people as far as I can see. Most seem to correlate with normal occurances of those conditions amongst the elderly population (e.g. diabetes). And don’t get me started on ‘previously treated for mental health’ – that could be half the bloody country!

        • I don’t understand the thing about mental illness and the coronavirus. The coronavirus is a respiratory illness, is it not? In that case, how the hell does being mentally ill increase your risk of dying from the coronavirus? What’s the causal link between the two conditions?

          • Your immune system is trashed – if you suffer dementia, your diet is decided for you by someone who cares not about the health of your gut biome, and your exercise plan typically involves being parked in front of a window on sunny days (windows filter the UV-B rays that generate Vit-D) which is no blooming good at all in keeping your immune system bang on.

  3. I do know a guy who was in his twenties and was very fit, no reason at all that you would expect him to be at risk. He died and gave the type of people who don’t understand numbers an argument.

  4. Totally agree LR. Never ever apologise to these pricks. Javid’s words were fine. My response to these offended arseholes would have been more robust especially to the likes of that creep David Lammy.

  5. Mask update. I’ve been round Asda this evening and mask wearing seems to be down to just over half. Definitely down on the last time I went.

    • It’s unbelievable, isn’t it? Especially the reason given for older vaccinated people dying is that they are less careful…what is the point of that marvellously efficient vaccine then (although it’s not 96% effective, more like 60% odd in the real world).

It is crazy how they have convinced everybody they’re at risk when you really need to be over 70 with a life expectancy of less than a year.

The Sanofi vaccine is an traditional style vaccine (and Pr Raoult deems it perfectly safe and efficient, precisely because we know how to make those kind of vaccines) but somehow banned in the EU. Not sure about this country.
