They Aren’t the Only Ones

So this firm engaged in selling snake oil.

An Australian activewear firm has been fined £2.6m (5m Australian dollars) for claiming its clothing “eliminated” and stopped the spread of Covid.

Lorna Jane had advertised that its clothing used “a groundbreaking technology” called LJ Shield to prevent the “transferal of all pathogens”.

However, in a ruling, a judge said the company’s claim was “exploitative, predatory and potentially dangerous”.

In what way is this any different to the scumbags telling us that wearing stupid masks has any effect? Or wearing gloves or wiping down surfaces? Daily I watch the absurd theatre of driving examiners coming out complete with stupid masks and gloves, wiping down the seatbelts and dashboard as if they are getting into a plague car. The people responsible for this are no different to Lorna Jane. Although I wouldn’t go down the fining route. My solution would be rather more medieval.

  1. Hadn’t you heard? Advertisers are not allowed to lie. Politicians get punished when they tell the truth, as Dawn Butler found out yesterday.

  2. I suppose the difference in the case of the masks is that the people who are making a modest profit from selling them aren’t the same people who are claiming that they are effective. On the subject of wiping down surfaces, it is known that viruses can be transmitted by touching things so there is at least a small amount of evidence that it might have some limited effect.

    • I’m not criticising the mask manufacturers here. Indeed, on the carton they are open about them being no use in pathogen control. It’s the idiots who mandated them that I am furious with.

    • Fix
Some viruses can be transmitted by touching things
      eg Polio, Fear

However, Airborne viruses can not – clue is in word Airborne

Zero proven cases of SARS-CoV-2 spread by formites. The obsessive cleaning is useless theatre to spread Fear virus

  3. I’ve been for a little shopette today. Mask wearing is a little down on last time I think, just a general impression I’m not keeping score. Slightly depressing how many are still wearing them though.

  4. Depressing how many are still wearing masks. This week I have made a little tour of all the shopping places I haven’t been to since March 2020. So, to the two shops who lost my custom forever during that time when they objected to my not wearing a mask, I will add all the places that had notices saying we still want you to wear a mask.

  5. “…My solution would be rather more medieval…”

But you’d have to wear a mask or hood then: it was traditional when wielding the axe.

  6. No masks at the gym today. Are fit people less afraid of the Covid virus?

I posted this earlier but had a message that I was posting comments too fast.
