Seriously what is there to say about such insanity? this is clearly an attempt at historical revisionism. Austen was guilty of the crime of drinking tea, wearing cotton and consuming sugar. This in the minds of these deranged activists constitutes “links with slavery.”
Yet the people who want to revise history are the very people who use electronic gadgets that were built using ore mined by child labourers. These people say nothing about the slave markets in Libya today. And they ignore the great big grey beastie with a trunk sitting on the armchair reading the paper. Jane Austen was openly abolitionist and as mentioned in the discussion used her novels to make the point.
They will be going after Wilberforce next – after all, they have already tried besmirching the US president who pushed through the thirteenth amendment.
They will stop at nothing, leave no one undamaged in their quest for dominance. What needs to start happening is a push-back. Lizzie Dunford needs to be removed from her post. Likewise anyone else who thinks that our culture and history should be revised – or as they put it, interrogated in the wake of BLM (Burn Loot Murder, Buy Large Mansions) – if they cannot keep their politics out of their work, then they need to go. The transatlantic slave trade ended over two hundred years ago. No one alive today is responsible for what happened yet these tiresome people keep banging on about it as if it is still ongoing and that we have some sort of privilege, ignoring the fact that the vast majority of white working people in Britain at that time were little more than slaves themselves. Well, slavery is still ongoing, but all I hear is crickets from the wokerati on that one.

As the European slave traders did not kidnap or capture Africans into slavery but bought them as slaves from other Africans and / Arabs, I look forward to hearing that the current African residents of the “Slave Coast” should be made denounced for their links to slavery.

By the way, on the subject of slavery, I believe there was some fool Democrat who claimed several months ago that slavery didn’t exist before the United States of America. Well, as the USA as we know it today didn’t really come into being until 1776, was he really saying slavery didn’t exist before 1776? Slavery in ancient Egypt, for example, never happened? I find this absolutely disgusting. I was born 5 miles from where Austen was born. I am livid that these woke bastards are now trying to trash her reputation. I’m fed up with having my culture and whole background being trashed by these arseholes. For the record i am very proud of our history and culture and particularly of the British Empire. I’m getting very cross about all this and its very lucky for them that i never meet any in real life !!!
