And So It Starts

Demonise the refusniks.

PEOPLE who refuse to wear a face mask to reduce the risk of coronavirus have lower cognitive ability, new research has found.

If this is like the usual “research” peddled uncritically by the MSM, it will be scientifically illiterate, statistically insignificant and be a case of policy based evidence production.

I am opposed to masks, therefore I am cognitively impaired. Really? Last time I did an IQ test (admittedly some while ago, now – Ed), I came out at 143 – epsilon semi-moron, then. I suspect, though, that the opposite is the case. Refusniks are the people who have the cognitive ability to assess information, history, science and statistics and to see bullshit when it is being presented, as opposed to merely following meekly with the crowd.

I call bullshit on this one. Unfortunately, there is no link to the study itself, but the quotes are pure psychobabble.

Interestingly the article then goes on to contradict itself.

Some of the Government’s most senior advisers have warned that face coverings can give people a false sense of security and lead to over-reliance on “ineffective homemade masks” rather than thorough hand hygiene.

The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) says incorrect use of coverings – such as putting them on incorrectly, touching the face more than normal and reusing dirty ones – could increase the spread of infection.

Two sound arguments for not wearing them or mandating them. But what would I know? I’m cognitively impaired.

  1. Again there are parallels with the climate change nonsense where there have been studies that claim that “deniers” must be mentally Ill. By 2020 Britain was going to have either a Mediterranean climate or a Siberian climate, the climatologists couldn’t agree with each other apart from the part about the deniers being wrong. Those people who said that by 2020 Britain’s climate would be a little bit milder but pretty much the same were definitely wrong.

    • They took their lessons from the Soviet Union where refusniks were deemed mentally ill.

    • Tuvalu is still with us, they were supposed to have sunk beneath the waves by 2020.

  2. In these double times, cognitive impairment means cognitive independence to the burgeoning totalitarians.

    • This is just online sockpuppet accounts trying to ‘nudge’ behaviour and do down dissent. Have a look at the ‘Lockstep’ document and tell me it’s accidental (From 2010 “During the pandemic, national leaders around the world flexed their authority and imposed airtight rules and restrictions, from the mandatory wearing of face masks to body-temperature checks at the entries to communal spaces like train stations and supermarkets. Even after the pandemic faded, this more authoritarian control and oversight
of citizens and their activities stuck and even intensified”)

  3. Sadly I found myself in the company of Mr & Mrs Nice People Retired Nurses, each wearing home made masks, both telling me it was to protect the health of Key Workers they might otherwise endanger and, by implication, why wasn’t I.

On a lighter note I am given to understand that mask wearers are more likely to partake of ‘Risky Behaviour’, sounds like fun, anyone got any ideas beyond drink driving and random casual sex ?

    • Got any ideas beyond drink driving

There’s a report of some guy crashing into an electricity pole after driving for several hours while wearing a N95 mask. It seems – entirely predictably – that his blood / oxygen level had taken a significant hit…

  4. Just suppose…A mask zealot harangues me in the supermarket, I start breathing heavily, sucking on one or both of my inhalers, collapse to the floor in a fear induced asthmatic panic attack…
I am exempt you Disability Abuser and I don’t have to discuss my medical condition with You or anybody else.

  5. I read somewhere that the CV19 virus has kindly agreed to stay away from shops until the 24th to allow shoppers to obtain the (useless) masks.

      • So people who refuse to wear face nappies have lower cognitive ability?

Must remember that next time somebody diverse tells me we’re all the same.

Hopefully I will have enough cognitive ability to do so.

  6. Is that the same logic as “People who voted for Brexit don’t understand what they are doing” ?

    Spare me…

    • Have to confess I’m seriously considering having one strapped over my arse as well. A rather more direct threat to public health is the old tradesman’s when it’s on form.

  7. The less gullible say wearing masks to save anyone’s life is a lie, so of course we must be stupid. There is no way a politician would tell a pathetic lie to cover a seemingly unending saga of lies. Half a million to die (they haven’t), save the NHS (never under pressure) only 10% of companies will furlough (everyone hates money), there will be a second wave (but not from protesters we like), you can’t get immune (because it’s like no other virus honest), cotton stops viruses (despite it clearly not doing that), we took 20% off GDP for good reasons honest……
