Cowards!

I’ve long since lost any faith in the police, but this is a new low.

A police force has angered officers by warning that they may face consequences if they decline to ‘take the knee’ at anti-racism protests.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said those who chose not to make the solidarity gesture ‘may become the focus of the protesters’ attention’.

The advice was issued during a recent operational briefing and points out that, when officers kneel down – joining in the symbolic stance of the Black Lives Matter movement – it ‘has a very positive reaction on the protest groups’.

Words fail me. The police are supposed to uphold the law without fear or favour. They are not supposed to take sides and yet here they are, cowering before the baying mob of the fascists and bullies of BLM and the brownshirt tribute act of Antifa. This will only lead one way. Once you appease the mob, you will never regain your authority.

But one senior detective told The Mail on Sunday: ‘It’s absurd. Will officers be expected to make similarly appeasing gestures at political events – far-Right protests, for instance?’

Precisely. And for once, I find myself agreeing with David Blunkett.

Former Home Secretary David Blunkett is among politicians who have warned that the action risks drawing police into politics and could lead to false accusations of racism being levelled at any who refuse to join in.

Again, spot on. For the record, I will not be “taking the knee” (that’s kneeling for native English speakers) for anyone – let alone a career criminal who thought it was perfectly okay to invade someone else’s house and hold a gun at a pregnant woman’s abdomen. George Floyd’s death was a disgrace, but the man was no saint and this lionising is getting way beyond a joke now.

  1. This just shows how much our police have been politicised, and taken over by left wing idiots. The senior management of the police need replacing en masse. They are not fit for purpose. We also need to look at the judiciary, who are nearly as bed. The whole lot needs clearing out and reforming to provide an unbiased and just system. David Blunket was part of the government that caused all this bias. He should apologise to the country for the chaos he has caused.

  2. Since I think that the protests now have little to do with Floyd’s death, ‘taking the knee’ is less an acknowledgement of black victims of US police brutality but rather white capitulation to BLM’s nefarious demands.

  3. No mention of who was the source of this order, then. Common Porpoise graduate, no doubt.

  4. I am sure that if a police officer threw the odd brick though a shop window that would achieve ‘positive reactions’ within the mob too.

The police officer who stood by as the Colston statue was pulled down as good as said he was in favour of the mobs action. His bosses excused the lack of action as defusing the situation. In reality it just encouraged ‘copy-cat’ attacks and put lots of other statue owners to the expense of protecting, repairing and recovering their property.

In a just world the Bristol officer would be sacked and have his pants sued off him by all those affected authorities around the country.

  5. “For the record, I will not be “taking the knee” (that’s kneeling for native English speakers) for anyone…”
I was brought up as a Catholic, going down on one knee is genuflecting.
    According to Google:
“Genuflect: lower one’s body briefly by bending one knee to the ground, typically in worship or as a sign of respect.
    “show deference or servility.”
I stopped genuflecting when I stopped being a Catholic. I don’t intend to start now. And I certainly won’t be genuflecting to the memory of a violent criminal.

  6. I bow only to my God, the Queen and to those judges who dispense honest justice. I will not bow to the BLM thugs nor anyone else. The police have become woefully politicised as we can see not just by these cops being encouraged to genuflect before BLM mobs but also by how they have failed to deal with the Islamic Rape Gang problem that has been an issue for twenty five years or more. On the subject of politicisation by the police there was an excellent post on this issue from Guido’s place which I have quoted here just in case it disappears from GF’s place. https://www.fahrenheit211.net/2020/06/14/quote-of-the-day-14th-june-2020-the-british-police-have-become-a-left-wing-organisation-in-all-but-name/

  7. At first glance I read it as ‘they may face consequences if they ‘take the knee’’ and was glad the grownups had arrived.

  8. Do police officers lose their pensions if they leave the force or are elbowed out? I can’t understand why there hasn’t been a mass exodus over this business. If I had been told that there would be consequences for not kneeling before the BLM protesters, my response would be to say bring it on. The people who came out with this are a complete and utter disgrace and I would bloody well tell them that to their faces.

  9. Don’t they realise compulsion to genuflect makes it meaningless obedience to the BLM Antifa slavers?

    Peter Hitchens spot on

As Left now controls every lever of power, we face nothing less than regime change

  10. BBC, UKTV has pulled the Fawlty Towers episode ‘The Germans’ on the grounds that one of the characters, The Major, describes the West Indian cricket team as ‘niggers’

Except, as usual, Left distort the truth; same as they repeatedly do with BoJo’s articles – again on BBC QT

    The Major:
“My girlfriend called them niggers. ‘No, no, no’ I said, ‘They’re not niggers, they’re wogs’ I told her”

Who here as a child recited “Eeny, meeny, miny, mo, catch a nigger by the toe”. I did and had no idea what a nigger was; a mythical creature like a Leprechaun probably

Back in 1970s wog, wop, nigger….. words were acceptable

    • As John Cleese has repeatedly pointed out (as if he needed to) the whole point was to mock the Major for his fuddy drudgery.

    • In the 1970s school music lessons included communal singing of sea shanties with the N word in them.

For the record, the major said “She would keep calling the Indians niggers, no no no I said, those are wogs, the West Indians are the niggers.” But as is mentioned elsewhere, the joke was that the major is old, slightly batty and completely out of touch.

  11. I knew this would become compulsory as the only way to ‘prove’ your anti-racism. How many times does one have to take-the-knee ? Just the once and get a badge? Prior to each event or every time you encounter another section of the mob ?
Let’s say it again especially for Hertfordshire Police,
Appeasement Does Not Work It Only Makes Things Worse.

Aside to Boris, cheers for allowing me to hug and kiss people from One other household. Dunno what bubble you’ve been in mate but most normal people have been doing that for weeks.

      • We were taught to fire prone as well. At school the main rifle was the Lee Enfield mk4, but we also had brens and stens (fully auto). Thunderflashes instead of grenades of course. Happy times in the CCF. Now that’s an all round education. Our masters had all served in the forces of course. They knew what they were doing.

    • Lovely to see the UDR cap badge, true patriots in adversity every one of whom stood up to the left mob 24/7

  12. Given how the Floyd bloke was restrained, I’m surprised that kneeling in public is still allowed, especially by the police. Looks like a pisstake.
