We’ve been in clown world for a while now. Well, finally, for around a hundred quid, you can get the appropriate footwear.
Grigore Lup, from the Transylvanian city of Cluj in Romania, has been making leather shoes for 39 years.
When the pandemic hit, the shoemaker, whose shop “relies heavily on custom orders from theatres and opera houses across the country, as well as traditional folk dance ensembles,” according to Reuters, saw his business impacted.
However, according to Lup, as restrictions eased across Europe, he realised that people weren’t taking social distancing seriously – so he came up with the lengthy shoes as a way for them to keep their distance.
Either he has a wacky sense of humour or he has been infected with the disease.

I think that we can all do our bit by, as far as possible, doing so. We have two cars, one needs a service, the other an MOT, both are booked in at the garage. I normally have six monthly check ups for my diabetes for which I’m overdue, I will be contacting the surgery today. I’ve been to several garden centres and DIY stores.

Nice city Cluj, I was there when Romania was still SSR, I expect Citizen Lup set up shop shortly after the fall of that regime.
Why haven’t the animal rights folks protested at the extra number of cows needing to be slaughtered to make these shoes and on that sort of thing I have not seen any Outrage from the LGBGTQWERTY Community at the hijacking of ‘their’ Rainbow flag by NHS lovers.
