Fuck Off!

Jesus, but the nasty little shitbags never stop.

The BBC has said the television licence fee could ultimately be replaced by a monthly levy on broadband connections, in response to the UK government’s proposals to decriminalise non-payment of the licence fee.

The public broadcaster said it strongly supported keeping the current court-enforced television licence fee system in place for the medium-term. But it is willing to consider following other European countries and implement a funding model “linked directly to an existing common household bill” such as an internet connection, council tax, or electricity supply.

No! No! No! No! No!

Fuck off. There is no reason why we should be forced to pay for your propaganda. There are funding models that rely on voluntary contributions – advertising or subscription based. To steal via a broadband tax means that many people who would not choose to watch BBC programmes will be forced to fund it. Go fuck yourselves you vile thieving scumbags!

Just defund the bastards and let them live or die in the open market.

  1. I have been license free since about 2008 when I started working abroad full-time and since my return in August 2015 I simply haven’t got the patience to go back to broadcast TV or put up with BBC propaganda.

Being in an area of Perth which doesn’t even receive broadcast signals (only cable) also helps, since I have no desire to contribute to Beardie Weirdie Richard Branson and his local Virgin Media monopoly.

Hopefully they will realise that doing this will be stringently opposed by the Internet companies as it will be a dampener on Broadband expansion.

There is the other point that people who don’t have a broadband connection will effectively get BBC for free. I’m sure that will go down like a cup of cold sick as well.

What about the places like Perth that have a free WiFi connection available? At 1.5 Mbps it isn’t much, but what will happen to those? Will they just terminate the service or simply block BBC content (hopefully the latter)?

It sounds like an easy win for the BBC propaganda machine to guarantee their river of Danegeld, but hopefully it will be refused by those they are effectively using as a platform (the Internet companies) for a modern day reworking of the Telly Tax.

Moving to a subscription only service is the only way of doing this fairly, then the luvvies can see how much their beloved Auntie Beeb is actually “loved” by the country. Doubt it will raise the 4 billion quid a year that the license fee does, which is why they are averse to doing it.

  2. Totally agree. I am fed up with supporting these rich London centric bastards. They basically dislike people like me so why should I support them.

  3. The Biased Broadcaster is possibly looking at Italy.
Italy must have had a fairly significant number of households without a licence so now every residential property’s electricity bill has a TV licence component added. Those who do not have a TV must sign a declaration to that effect and be prepared for an inspection visit to make sure that there isn’t a TV or a recorder + TV. Yes, it’s a tax on POSSESSION!

  4. This is just wrong. How about adding road tax to people’s water bill, you get to pay it even if you don’t have a car. The logic is just as sound. You can tell that they are trying everything that they can think of to avoid giving people a choice. It’s almost as if they know that there are a whole lot of us who won’t subscribe.

    • No need to add road tax to the water bill – just sell everyone a piece of paper so that they can show that they have paid!

Oh, we had that system and some civil servant decided it wasn’t necessary…..

      • Some civil servant realised lots would forget and a clamp + fine + backdated tax makes more money

Probably same one who invented Brown’s SORN + fines

        • They also invented a scam to extort money every time someone buys and sells midway though the month. You can’t claim back half a month as a seller and have to buy the whole month as the buyer. HMG rips off both parties. Neat.

  5. As headline “Fuck Off!” BBC

    Will Business Broadband be exempt?
What if two broadband lines for fall-over resilience eg BT & Virgin, BT & 4G/5G?

BBC & C4 should be privatised

On Business Broadband, during late 90s & early 2000s many PC World etc PCs came with a TV card, small businesses bought these

Guess what happened? Yep, TV Licence goons visiting and fining business owners for “having receiving equipment” most didn’t know were in PC and were not connected to an aerial

  6. Oh, forgot. Another reason for BBC & C4 to FO

  7. I completely agree with you. I have two broadband lines. I will not be paying twice I can tell you that. the BBC must sink or swim by its viewers and listeners who choose to use its services. If it cannot do this, that is just tough. Cut your garment according to your cloth.
