To The Conspiracy Theorists

When I posted Peter Power’s response to the thoroughly reprehensible ambush by We Are Change UK, I half expected to be similarly ambushed myself and I wasn’t disappointed.

I reached a point where I closed the discussion because the ongoing assertions being made without one solitary shred of evidence to support them became tiresome – not least the decision by the final commenter to insult me without making any attempt to further the discussion with anything so mundane as verifiable evidence. As I said there – and I repeat here – I can cope with a robust exchange providing the comment furthers the discussion. Simply resorting to name calling does not cut the mustard. The unsubstantiated assertions were tiresome to start with, but I finally decided that I was not going to get into an endless and pointless discussion that had gone absolutely nowhere and was destined to continue in ever decreasing circles. I made this clear at the foot of that page – there is a line drawn under this discussion. End of. Please be good enough to respect that.

I received an email from someone today asking me much the same questions that were asked – and answered – in that discussion.

I posted Mr Power’s reply here because he asked me to. The reason that I believe his side of this particular story is simply that I have a similar occupational background and am perfectly capable of recognising a coincidence for what it is – and I utterly despise the kind of tactics indulged in by We Are Change UK. The conspiracy theorists who want me to believe that the July 7th attacks were a false flag operation and that Mr Power cleaned up afterwards have demonstrably failed to provide any evidence whatsoever to substantiate their absurd claims – and, therefore, I do not believe them, any more than I believe in God, pink unicorns or the tooth fairy – nor, for that matter do I believe that George Bush masterminded 9/11 (frankly, the existence of all of the preceding examples are more believable than that one).

And, to the correspondent who seems to think that I support CCTV everywhere, I suggest that you read what I have written on the subject before jumping to that conclusion. Indeed, it is jumping to absurd conclusions without verifiable evidence that epitomises the conspiracy theorist and that is why I am so derisive of your theories.

Let me make this clear. I am not going to enter into further discussion on the attacks of July 7th 2005, the Twin Towers attacks or any other so-called conspiracy. I have neither the time nor the inclination.

So, please, enough. This is my final word on the matter. I’m not going to reply to emails and any attempts to hijack this discussion by “troofers” asserting any of the above nonsensical claims will simply be erased.

Thank you for your consideration.

  1. Oh come on LR.

We all know that after the Belgrano was torpedoed by aliens utilising the Da Vinci code as a firing solution, you, DK, and Mr Eugenides sailed up in a dinghy and fished the severed limbs of the crew out of the water. You then kept them in your fridge until you deciphered the hidden message of the Plains of Nazca and discovered how to build George W. Bush from the bits and animate him with incantations stolen from the Illuminati (also known as Samizdata).

After that, the rest was inevitable QED.

(And we know all about you, Vladimir Putin and that illicit rhubarb patch in Samarkand. Don’t think we’re not on to you, and your legions of vat-grown mollusc henchmen).
