It Really is Time

People told XR to fuck off.

Extinction Rebellion is once again calling for the British Fashion Council (BFC) to cancel London Fashion Week.

I am not a fan of the fashion industry, so it’s a little unusual that I come to their defence here, but it is necessary. XR has stepped way over the bounds of normal, reasonable protest and into the arena of bullying, intimidation and blackmail. It is not their place to make demands on anyone and people who do make demands need to be put firmly in their place. Demands don’t get. No one has voted for them and given the reaction to their antics on the underground a few weeks back, very few will. They do not represent the reasonable, rational majority. They are an extreme group of fanatics and we need to treat them accordingly.

Also, given that they are going for the fashionista now, we can be sure that no one is safe from their growing attacks. This is not about climate. This is about imposing communism on us all by force, for force is the tactic they use. Today, the fashionista, tomorrow you and I – if not already during their disruption when blockading roads. Although I note that they are changing tactics slightly; going after organisations rather than commuters. Something seems to have sunk into their collectively dense skulls. Perhaps getting dragged off a train roof and being given a well-deserved kicking sent a message after all.

It is time that the media, the police, government and the courts stopped pandering to these people. It is time that they were told firmly to take the sex and travel option. No enabling, no discussion and no media fawning. Fuck off and take the horse you rode into town on. And if they block the roads illegally, move them on (and I note elsewhere that people are perfectly happy with the water cannon option here, so the level to which they have pissed off ordinary people is becoming increasingly obvious). This is not legitimate protest and should not be treated as such. It is time that as a country – and the same applies to other countries where they are operating (not China, I notice) – we stopped allowing a bunch of middle-class, self righteous, communist extremists pushing us about.

  1. You reaaly have to try and get inside the heads of these people. They are not like you and I. They have not been educated in any proper sense, that is, they reallly cannot even conceptualize dissident opinion or that they might be wrong.

They truly, genuinely can’t (I can sort of get that into my head, but I just cannot understand coming to such a conclusion based on nothing but a twatter feed)

My fear is that they will, in their arrogance and messianic belief in their own rightness, one day do smething very serious and very stupid.

Like the psychotic people haters of “animal right” who I have a horrible feeling are one day going to release some hideous plauge from some lab they destroy.

    • There are actually two very distinct types here (thinking of XR in particular): leaders and followers.

Followers are the XR rank-and-file on the streets, the twitter followers and so on. They are gullible, arguably stupid, and ill educated (yes, including the ones with degrees: ill educated, not uneducated); often perfect examples of the devil finding work for idle hands. It’s become a well known truism that the right thinks the left is stupid (while the left thinks the right is evil), and they are why. Followers slurp down the propaganda uncritically, including the bits about no-one wanting whatever it is they are opposing today. That’s why protesters getting dragged off train roofs and kicked by annoyed commuters was such a shock to them – they truly believed all ‘real people’ were on their side.

Leaders are a very different kettle of fish. They don’t slurp down propaganda, they slurp down Alinsky. They are sometimes paid professional agitators – I had cause to dig into one of these a while back: she turned up organising a “residents against fracking” group near where I live, and before that was a leader of the Occupy protests. In some of the bumf she was putting out about fracking she admitted (in passing, while commenting on something that the energy industry had put out) that writing such articles was her profession. (She didn’t say outright she was a professional writer of anti-fracking articles, but …).

Followers are mugs, available in bulk for the cost of a few tweets and maybe some lunch money – and easily discouraged, too. Leaders are cynical, manipulative, persistent and power hungry. If you want to understand them read ‘Inside the Third Reich’, the autobiography of Albert Speer, Hitler’s armaments minister.

      • It’s the leaders at which I aim my ire, for they are the Marxists who would destroy us all. The followers are useless idiots being manipulated. I include Gritty Thunderbird in that latter category, for she is a know-nothing fool.

  2. The BBC likes to suck up to the XR people, while banning anyone who is sceptical of climate alarmism on the grounds that they are not qualified to speak.

On the subject of them getting in the way of commuters, maybe people should go armed with super soaker water pistols and water balloons.

  3. You know the funny thing is about Twitter is that if you are not one of the morons who uses it, they can’t hurt you with Twitter attacks…

    • Not with their twitter attacks but they can swiftly move to email if they know where you work. I know from just having experienced persecution in the workplace for a statement which was knowingly taken out of context and my work knew that but didn’t care.

If I hadn’t lied my socks off on my pal in HRs advice I’d be unemployed now. Instead I get to tell everyone in work ‘I can’t comment on that by command of our management as I am not allowed to voice an opinion that does not line up with the company view’

  4. “It is time that the media, the police, government and the courts stopped pandering to these people. “

Just last week, cops stood by while they ripped up public grass verges outside the Home Office, FFS.

Unless Priti Patel gets a grip on them, nothing will change.

      • Priti Patel seems to have the usual Home Sec’s a hard on for Twitter crime and letting robbers go free. We will see……

    • The police in Cambridge are also closing roads so these dicks can protest. The locals are not happy with the coppers on Twitter, but it’s not going to make a difference. The Police are firmly on the side of the protestors

      • Those dicks are now digging up gardens. They should be arrested, charged with vandalism and when convicted be given community service repairing the damage. Nasty fuckers.

  5. One can only imagine the reaction if a group of ‘Britain First’ followers has behaved in such a fashion- this is one reason why despite the General election result,I feel the rot has gotten too deep to turnaround – Greens, XR followers and Corbynites seem to be ensconced across all industries and all sectors and they treat these terrorists with almost religious veneration (We even had a judge expressing his sympathy recently) – I long for the leaders to be put on planes to Pyongyang or Caracas to see their ideologies ‘in the flesh’ but fear I am more likely to suffer that fate than these clowns

  6. According to Cambridge Live there has been a threat of violence to XR:
“Large, armed and dangerous’ group planning to attack XR protesters”.
Could it be that the worm is about to turn?
Anyhow, what’s the betting that plod are out in force to protect them?
