There’s an Answer to This

And that answer is fuck off.

Roger Federer has come under fire from teenage activist Greta Thunberg over his sponsorship deal with Credit Suisse.

Some background to the story, Swiss financial giant Credit Suisse have invested millions in fossil fuel and environmentalists were not happy.

They decided to protest inside a Lausanne branch of the bank in 2018 dressed as tennis players (taking aim at Federer) and disrupted daily service.

They were arrested and recently appeared in court again, but refused to pay a fine.

However, Thunberg is not happy with Credit Suisse ambassador Federer’s lack of response.

Jesus, but this obnoxious little troglodyte is getting way out of hand. Federer is right to remain silent. Celebrities are best off avoiding politics given that whatever stance they take, they will end up pissing off significant amounts of their followers. That’s the kind way of putting it anyway. So, silence is a sensible stance to take.

There is another issue here. Who the flying fuck do these activists think they are? If Federer wishes to remain silent, that’s his business, not theirs. They don’t get to tell him what to do. The best response to these activists is to remind them that manipulative behaviour is out of order and he won’t be bowing to it – at least, that would be my response. But maybe I’m not as diplomatic as he is.

  1. When you are as good at tennis as he is, and have no doubt made lots of sacrifices along the way to get there, he has every right to take sponsorship where he wants.
Maybe these activists should take up a sport that will focus their minds, train their bodies and hopefully enjoy themselves along the way.
When I was at school in the 1970s our teachers told us the planet was doomed, we might as well just ride the wave and say a little prayer.

  2. Are these people hypocrites or just ignorant about how much fossil fuels support them in every single detail of their everyday lives? Whatever you think about the militant vegans, they do at least walk the walk and do their best to avoid using animal products. If you object to the use of fossil fuels then stop using them, go naked, live outdoors and eat raw meat and berries.

Near the village where I live there have been some exploratory drilling for gas. Lots of my imbecile neighbours are displaying signs that say “Green fields not gas fields”. These are people who heat their houses with gas. Using gas good, drilling it out of the ground bad. Idiots.

  3. I rather think the teenage strop pot may be playing a dangerous game here. RF has been a saint for much longer than she has.
