Idiot

Polly Toynbee parades her ignorance again. This time she is criticising Boris Johnson for wanting to reduce tax. Well, he should. We pay far too much. But this strap-line is a hoot:

The Tory leadership candidate is fond of citing the Laffer curve theory – yet it’s no more credible than a magic money tree

To call her a moron would be being too kind. This cretin clearly has never walked in the real world. She has clearly never come across the grey economy. Nor has she met real people who, having decided that they have contributed enough to the exchequer decide not to do any more work, their time being more valuable than slogging their guts out for the state. I am one of those. I refuse point-blank to pay 40% marginal rates. I will simply slow down my rate of work if that becomes a risk. And there you have it, the Laffer curve in action.

But in the rarefied offices of the Guardian, it’s a myth. The stupid, it hurts.

  1. If I am running a successful business some of my profits will possibly go into expanding it. Both the business and the expanded workforce will pay more tax as a result. If the government keeps helping itself to my profits then it is likely that the expansion won’t take place. A heavily taxed population will be less able to afford to buy my products. This stuff isn’t hard to understand is it ?

Not to decent, educated people who have been inoculated against the monumental idiocies of the left, by say, living during the 1970’s when Labour turned the place to shit and the Tories did nothing.

Polly Toynbee is such a dumb idiot that she continued as a ‘cheer leader’ for Labour from that era to this. No doubt she will be incensed when she starts getting non-EU resident alien taxes on her Tuscan villa.

  2. I forgot to mention those people who get taxed at such an eye watering levels that they leave the country. Meaning that the exchequer gets zero income as opposed to the moderate amount they would otherwise have got.

Also, if the magic money tree isn’t credible, why do socialists talk and act just as if it is real and actually exists?
