Totalitarian of the Day

Tom Watsonquelle surprise.

The deputy Labour leader, Tom Watson, has demanded that Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg never again allows far-right activists to fundraise on the network, criticising him for having a “contempt for social responsibility”.

It’s worth bearing in mind here that what it referred to as “far right” is nothing more than a passion for freedom – free speech, freedom of and from religion, the freedom to associate with and do business with whomever one pleases and so on. However, if you dare to suggest that Islam is not a religion of peace (it isn’t), that it is a corrosive influence on our society (it is) and that Pakistani gangs have been abusing thousands of white girls, you are “far right”. If you think that leaving the EU is a good idea because our country should have the right to control its borders and not have to give millions of pounds to an unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy, you are “far right”.

I have watch the so-called “far right” eviscerate the leftist SJWs in debate and they have seemed to me to be reasonable, rational and pretty much mostly the intellectual superior of their opponent, having researched their subject and able to use reason, logic and evidence when faced with emotional outburst and logical fallacy. Indeed, logical fallacy seems to be the usual tool used by the left.

This is what Tom Watson means by “far right”. And he wants to ensure that people are not able to hear these voices – shutting them down in the name of “social responsibility”. Far right is simply a euphemism for not agreeing with the left and as such, must be silenced.

A Guardian investigation on Friday found that a hidden global network of US thinktanks, rightwing Australians and Russian trolls were providing financial, political and moral support to Tommy Robinson, who has more than 1 million followers on Facebook – his main social network after Twitter suspended him for claiming “Islam promotes killing people” in March.

And the problem with this is? So what if Robinson has received funding (I just love the Russian Trolls thing – that seems to be the latest bogeyman)? But, most importantly, his statement is factually correct.

The far-right activist has told supporters that he planned to use the money to sue the British government over his time in prison and to hire three journalists to launch a “European InfoWars”, the US site whose founder Alex Jones has been banned by Facebook, YouTube, Apple and most other major content networks.

And he should sue the bastards. Their behaviour was despicable as the subsequent court of appeal ruled. The important thing here, though, is that the usual suspects – Twatter, Farcebook and so on are run by leftists. The answer is to set up alternatives that they cannot shut down.

Watson, who also holds the shadow culture, media and sport brief, said that Facebook did not respect democratic accountability and called upon Zuckerberg – who has so far avoided giving testimony to the parliamentary “fake news” committee – to go further than withdrawing Robinson’s “access to the donate tool”.

Ha! Seriously – that’s one brief that should go along with the ministry it shadows. And this is published in the Guardian a purveyor of fake news. And why should Zuckerburg face a kangaroo court of jumped up pufflingtons who think that he answers to them? He does not. Tom Watson is a vile authoritarian, the worst kind of slimeball to crawl out of the woodwork and plonk his fat, entitled arse on the green benches. The threat to our democracy does not come from Tommy Robinson, but from creatures such as this.

  1. Indeed. Anything that is not Far Left is by their definition “Far Right”, even if you’re only a little to the right of Far Left. It’s madness,

  2. Actually Mr. Watson we are pretty much in the centre ground. We are only right wing when compared to you.

      • “many of whom marched in London today” You mean the three whimsical old dears with their dogs who could be bothered to turn up cos they think that that Tommy is a bit dishy (under 5K for a protest march is appalling, there were probably more coppers there than Kippers)? Not just ‘silent centre’ but the bloody invisible one too. By my reckoning that means 17.345 million voters decided they’d rather not be associated with the gobshitey Skin Cancer Merchant of Menace. Nice one von Battenburk, well played.

        • The only media outlet that gave any numbers was the Mail and they quoted 3,000. Apparently the fascist counter protest was 15,000. Who knows? Who cares? Doesn’t alter the point I made which is that these folk are not far right.

  3. If facebook is run by leftists…not really sure how a billionaire like Zuckerberg can be described as a leftist but there you go, then why would another leftist (McDonnell) be having a dig at him. That comes across a little incoherent but whatever….I don’t actually disagree. Facebook is a private business and all the time it does not allow real inciting hate speech (an actual crime) then it should be left up to its owners to say yay or nay to people using it for whatever reason.

    • Being a billionaire does not mean that someone cannot be a leftist.

The reason Watson wants to “have a dig” at Facebook et al is to do with control. However, leftists having a dig at other leftists goes with the territory. There are mass graves full of people who lacked ideological purity.
