Jeebus!

Vile virtue signalling.

In Portland, Oregon, organisers of the “Reparations Happy Hour” invited black, brown and indigenous people to a bar and handed them $10 bills as they arrived, a small but symbolic gift mostly funded by white people who were asked not to attend.

Brown Hope, a local activist organisation, wanted the event, which was held Monday, to be a space for people of colour in a mostly white city to meet one another, discuss policy issues and plan potential action.

How much self-loathing do you have to have, to even contemplate such a nasty idea? And not just nasty and racist towards white people but derogatory and patronising towards those of a brownish hue as well. This is SJW virtue signalling at its worst. Evil people.

Whitten said he hoped the event, in addition to building community, would call attention to reparations — the concept that black people should be financially compensated for the generations of trauma that preceded them.

Fuck off! Seriously, just fuck off. We are not responsible for what happened before we were born. My own family, for example, comes from a mix of poor Irish, French and Scottish stock. One died destitute in a workhouse. So, sure, we did well out of the transatlantic slave trade. I do not feel guilty, I will not feel guilty and I’ll be damned if I apologise or give money to people as a consequence of something that happened hundreds of years before my birth and for which I have no responsibility. Whitten can go fuck himself with a pineapple wrapped in razor-wire, the vile little creep.

Anticipating some criticism, he said the event was not meant to diminish the seriousness of the reparations issue.

There is no issue. No reparations are due and none should be paid. End of.

The subject has been the source of spirited debate but has not attracted widespread support. In 2016, an Exclusive Point Taken-Marist Poll found 68 percent of Americans were opposed to reparations, including 81 percent of white people. Among black people, 58 percent supported it and 35 percent were opposed.

Well, there’s a surprise. I fail to see why people today should be expected to pay for the sins of their great great great grandfathers. Clearly those expected to cough up feel the same and those who think they will get free money think otherwise. Well colour me shocked.

  1. What, exactly, do they want to be compensated for? Their ancestors were sold into slavery (by black people) and transported from Africa to America. Because of that, and because slavery was abolished (by white people), they now live in comparative luxury in one of the richest nations on earth instead of a hovel in a third world African country.

  2. Yes, Oregon. As satirised in the Netflix show Portlandia. There’s something about the Pacific coast that seems to soften the brain. The good news is that they’ll all be wiped out when the Juan De Fuca fault lets rip.

  3. “… organisers of the “Reparations Happy Hour” invited black, brown and indigenous people to a bar …”

Blimey! I though giving firewater to the redskins was frowned on!

  4. My ancestors wore woad and saw their culture trashed by cruel invaders. I see that “blue” people are never included in these events. I am sick of the discrimination. I want hefty compensation. Some women seem to dye their hair blue which is cultural appropriation and I feel traumatized.

  5. I enjoyed this post but let me cavil. I’m sorry but it’s in my nature. By saying “My own family, for example, comes from a mix of poor Irish, French and Scottish stock” you play the identity politics game. If your ancestors had owned South Carolina and many slaves you would STILL not be responsible for what happened before you were born. I still agree heartily with your suggestions to the virtue-signallers and race-baiters as to their reproduction and mobility.

    • True enough. However I am countering the narrative that all white people are responsible for slavery and benefited from it. Its tosh, of course.
