  1. On the whole, we are not – and never have been – racist.

We could be “culturist” as no (repeat NO) group anywhere in the world is happy having an alien culture thrust into their midst, and to be told that much of their own culture is to be changed or suppressed to suit that of the aliens.

If a person with a much darker skin tone enters my little group and he or she behaves in much the same way as anyone else without demanding preferential treatment, then their skin colour is completely irrelevant. Sure they may be christened “Chalky” in much the same way that a very short person is called “Lofty”. It’s normal British culture to use irony and piss-taking amongst friends; and it has been so for absolutely ages.

Most people (of all hues) understand this and it’s only the “race-relations professionals” who insist on seeing malice in everyday banter so they can expand their imaginary grievances and continue to be paid a lot of money (partly from MY pocket) without having to ever do any proper work.

  2. The thing is, Afua Hirsch is the child who cried wolf. Her entire journalistic career is predicated on endless articles complaining about all the racism in the world she sees (and ‘her experience’)

But her views are shared by very few people. Her pathological hatred for this country, it’s people, it’s history and it’s institutions are merely constructs for her to bleed her heart in print. White people are her oppressors – everyone is tarred and feathered with ridiculous, sweeping generalisations if they disagree with Hirsch’s own pretentious position.

When your entire career is founded on ridiculous grievance politics, I might be excused for suggesting that it is Hirsch who actually has the problems, not British society. It is Hirsch who is the bigot. It is Hirsch who is the racist. It is Hirsch who insists on stoking divisions in society purely for her own benefit.

One can only hope that eventually The Guardian will grow as tired of this droning minnie as The Guardian’s readers clearly have. Comments on CiF are again disabled for her article, which is always a bad sign.

      • They were closed when I wrote above, but then apparently opened briefly for 15 minutes to allow the impression that comments were free before they were closed again. Another common Guardian trick these days.

  3. And I am sick of your constant whining about waaaycism, your identity politics and anti-male, anti-white bullshit. So we are even, okay?

Good reply, although a “Fuck off and fuck the high horse you rode in on, you necrotic pox doctor’s string bag!” would have been even better.

  4. Could it be that what she is seeing as racism is actually Afua Hirschism? If she goes around accusing every white person of racism, whether they are racist or not, it should come as no surprise that they don’t like her. Also, if she is being discriminated against, that could be because she is an obnoxious arse with a huge chip on her shoulder rather than anything to do with skin colour.

  5. A Pseuds Corner candidate, from a comment under the Graun article:

“… think its fair to say they’ve positioned minorities as a third force to screen/justify the revanchist othering and fracturing of the (existentially threatening) working class.”
