But This is a Good Thing

Gentrification is bad apparently.

An American coffee shop chain has apologised for a sign appearing to celebrate the gentrification of a historically black neighbourhood.

Social media users reacted with outrage to an A-board advertising ink! coffee in Denver, Colorado, which said: “Happily gentrifying the the neighbourhood since 2014.”

There have been calls for customers to boycott the company, which has 16 shops across the capital city and Aspen.?

Oh for flying fuckitty fuck’s sake already! Firstly, stop fucking apologising to these moronic twatter warriors. It encourages them to come back for more. Secondly, gentrification is a good thing, not a bad one. It means that the neighbourhood is a more pleasant place to be. I recall St Paul’s in Bristol during the late seventies and eighties. Since that time, gentrification of a sort has taken place. Certainly you no longer see whores soliciting on the streets and you don’t get riots any more. All in all, it’s no longer the shithole it once was. So, yes, gentrification is good and those living in downbeat areas should be aspiring to it, not seeking to remain in the gutter.

But, then, that’s leftist thinking for you. Can’t have the downtrodden getting all upwardly mobile now, can we?

Well no of course not, if we are going to set ourselves up as champions of the poor we have to keep them poor, otherwise they aren’t going to vote for us anymore. Why people, who openly admit that they would prefer to see people living in squalor rather than have their lives improve, are not viewed with contempt by everyone is a bit of a mystery.

    • +1

Reason why Left hate Mrs Thatcher, she did want them to be upwardly mobile and escape (relative) poverty.

      • + another. And she did want people to be upwardly mobile from their own efforts and not become totally dependent upon a theoretical concept called ‘society’. Her comment regarding that – totally vilified by the left, of course – was as usual both misquoted and quoted completely out of context.

        • Yes, well, when it comes to strawmen, the left can apply for a CAP subsidy all of their own. Indeed, logical fallacies worthy of a sixth form debating society abounds during PM Question Time. The immaturity on display is sickening.

  2. What’s ironic is that these offendatrons are mostly ‘white’ middle class wasters. Which if you knew nothing else about their petty outrages would render them risible. The problem is that the outraged noise of a few student types is interpreted as the voice of the many.
