Yves Montand Of a generation of Frenchmen who were born with a Gauloises hanging from their lip.

    – The position of Montand’s hand on the cigarette gives the impression that it detachable, which it is not. French pronunciation was adapted to enable talking while a Gauloises hangs from your lip and indeed the entire French language was developed because of the difficulties of pronouncing Latin while doing so.”
