Twilight

The fading sun; red orb; slips below the sleeping horizon.

The land breathes softly, releasing a weary sigh.

The melancholy dusk is peaceful, the day now gone,

As the sun hangs heavy below the mackerel sky.

And dusty summer fades its mournful way,

Soft and gentle, the grains of sand

Of the dying day make way for the solace of velvet night.

Casting shadows across the purple land.

Twilight envelopes the tired hour, in the waning light.

The memories of my time mature like summer wine,

I watch the moments of my life slip idly by…

These days, so full of life, once were mine,

These days, now gone; I watch them die.

  1. I hope that you are not dying quite yet LR. I’ve been meaning to ask how the cycling has been going, are you managing to keep it up? Of course the waning summer makes life more difficult for cyclists. Eventually I will be forced into the gym with the spin bike and a pile of DVDs.

    • I had a cystoscopy last weekend, so haven’t been out for a week. Weighed myself, though -down to 10st.

Hopefully back out on Sunday.I should be a bit more comfortable then.

  2. The Pink Floyd song ‘Time’ made quite an impression on me as a teen. The song made me resolve not to waste time and always try to make the most of it. My atheism is also a factor I think, knowing that you only get one life makes you value your time more.
