Weer All Stoopid

The long march of the sore losers continues.

Leader Tim Farron said the result had been based on lies by the Leave campaign

Because, of course, we are all blinded by propaganda and are far too stupid to be able to make up our own minds. And, of course we nasty older folk have stolen the younger generation’s future.  Equally bollocks. There was a vote – one person, one vote and an outcome was reached. Many of the younger electorate couldn’t be bothered. Too bad.  Those of us who are older reached our conclusions having observed the EU in action over the past 43 years – have watched as an unelected commission issued directives that interfered in the minutia of our lives; of failed politicians and bureaucrats troughing on our money. We have life experience and are able to reach conclusions without propaganda from either side – and, frankly, claims about lies from a remain campaign that built its whole strategy on lies and scaremongering and finally threats, this is pretty rich. As is insulting 52% of the electorate, for that is what Farron is doing here.

Personally, nothing any of the campaigners said influenced my decision, for I made that 43 years ago. Nothing  happened in the intervening years to change that opinion – not what has happened nor what has been said by anyone. I have observed the EU in action and it displeased me, so I voted to leave it. Or, being an older baby boomer, should I have been denied that vote, ‘cos young people?

The Liberal Democrats will stand at the next general election on a platform of derailing Brexit and keeping Britain in the European Union, the party has announced.

Leader Tim Farron said on Saturday night that he would be “clear and unequivocal” with voters that if elected it would set aside the referendum result and keep Britain in the EU.

He said the referendum result amounted to a “howl of anger” at politicians and that the election of a liberal government would be a way of registering a change of heart by the electorate .

Once again, we see breathtaking effrontery from a man who is supposed to serve us, not the other way around. A few thousand spoiled children indulging in a temper tantrum, who are clearly anti-democratic does not make for a change of heart on the part of the electorate. I certainly haven’t changed mine. Parliament asked the people. The people answered. It is now up to Parliament to enact our will and get on with it. Or are spoiled children to be allowed to overturn a free and fair vote? And, any constituency MP in an area that voted leave who then votes to overturn that outcome will be committing political suicide.

Are we a democracy or are we not? I am thinking not.

  1. Yeah like Osborne wasn’t telling porkers himself. I seem to recall that in APril he published a Treasury report which claimed the damage to Government income would be £10bn. Then in early June he stood next to New York Banker Jamie Dimon and claimed it was in fact £30bn. And then a week before the vote and in total desperation he then claimed it would be £40bn.

It’s stuff like that makes voters distrust the political elites. Hopefully Osborne will do the honourable thing and fall on his sword as Cameron has already done, but I bet he tries to cling on.

    • He’ll be lucky to get the chance to fall on his sword. Over on the other side of the house swords are being wielded in full-on civil war!

  2. Farron is a tit. He says he will be campaigning for a vote to re-enter the EU at the next election. By then I hope everyone will see how successful the UK is outside of the EU and no-one will want to put up with EU crap any more.

  3. I find it very sad that in societies all across the world older people are respected for their experience and their views are taken seriously. Here in the UK we are dismissed and insulted.

Mr. Pot O’Kettle clearly wasn’t watching the bullshit put out by his own side. They’re still excreting galactic quantities of manure as I type this. (“They’re uneducated oiks!” Sorry, who, exactly, was responsible for the UK’s education system that resulted in over 17 million ill-educated proles? Yeah, talk about shooting yourselves in the foot, you arrogant pricks. And you wonder why you were outvoted.)

I haven’t owned a TV for 20 years and haven’t bought a single newspaper in that time either. The increasingly vacuous blathering of the Oxbridge Bubble are of no interest to me. I therefore got precisely fuck all from either of the “official” camps, not least because I’m more than capable of doing my own research and forming my own opinions and judgements on things. I certainly don’t need “experts”, who have demonstrated nothing but incompetence for years, to tell me what and how to think.

That’s why we have an education system: democracy cannot work without one. (SJWs, please take note.)

Also, there’s this thing called “The Internet”. I understand it is quite popular. I’m also tri-lingual, half-Londoner, half-Italian, and I translate for a living. So hardly an ill-educated, racist bigot.

  5. I have said for many years that it was time the Liberal Party was consigned to the dustbin of political history. Hopefully this will finally happen…

  6. He can stand for whatever he likes,he’s got no chance of being in government, the earlier comment about him being a tit,was spot on. Dickheac
