MPs and the BBC are locking horns over what to call Islamic State.

The letter from MPs, led by the Conservative MP Rehman Chishti, asked the BBC to refer to the terrorist group as Daesh, an Arab acronym that has “negative connotations”.

It was signed by influential figures such as Boris Johnson and Alex Salmond and backed by David Cameron, who earlier this week expressed frustration at the BBC’s continued use of the term.

Well, yes… However all of this misses a very  important point. And they continue to miss it.

The Prime Minister, making his own call for the BBC to change its policy earlier this week, branded Isis a “poisonous death cult” that is “seducing” young Britons to go and fight for the terrorist organisation in Syria and Iraq.

Sigh…

There. Fixed it for  you. When, and only when, politicians stop lying about this and deal with the underlying fact that Islam is at the heart of this, will they ever hope to deal with it. Sure, there are plenty of Moslems who have no desire to murder people (and some came here to escape this very behaviour). But the reality is; Islam is a religion that was originated in violence and its scriptures openly call for murder of those who do not follow it – and, like other religions, condemns those from within the faith who have strayed from the path of righteousness and purity; the heretics and the apostates. The difference – the significant difference – is that Islam calls for the death penalty for just about everything; whether you are drawing a picture of PaedoMo (blasphemy, apparently), or simply saying; “I don’t believe in this claptrap anymore.” (Apostasy). Things that in the intelligent, adult world, just don’t matter because they are not important.

Openly acknowledge this and deal with the root cause first. Then worry about what you call ISIL.

  1. They could always call it “Imshi” or “Zenwah”, 2 words that may raise sniggers amongst those who have lived in the Middle East. An English alternative could be “MAS (Murdering Arab Shitheads)”. I am currently looking for toilet rolls which have alternate sheets with their flag and a sketch of the face of Mo. Then, you can not only display your views of both but you can colour them in at the same time.

  2. If successive governments can teach our kids that heterosexuality is wrong surely they can do the same for Islam?

  3. You are simply right. We have lost our way and have become too accommodating in an insane world. Other societies are not so developed and will exploit our weakness. Hereward awake!

    • Yup: there’s a definite competition amongst our ruling élite to see who can show themselves to be the most self-denigrating.

Whilst they are of course richly deserving of said denigrating – over-qualified, even – they don’t have any right to include the rest of us in their loony little “I’m more PC than you” games.

A pox on ’em all and a plague on all their houses!

    • Idiot
Where/when has heterosexuality been branded “wrong”, eh?
A gradual realisation that there are, & have always been, minorities with other sexual “preferences” (not the correct word, but never mind) & that they are simply like that & it isn’t criminal, provided no-one gets hurt & fucking BigSkyFairy’s “instructions” on the subject are as much shit as all BSF’s other “instructions” & are totally irrelevant.

  4. Why can the BBC not call them what they really are, a bunch of murderous psychopaths.

    • Murderous Islamic psychopaths, emulating the murderous, psychopathic pedophile who invented their cult and whom they all revere.

  5. Surely the correct name for Isis is “the excuse by which a police state is enacted in Britain”?

    • If it wasn’t that, it would be something else. Politicians need an enemy. This year it is Eurasia. That said, Isis/Isil or whatever, are a vile bunch that pose a real threat to their neighbours.
