Another Cat Hating Arsehole

Andrew Brown.

Never mind that this tired, stupid and idiotic rhetoric has been debunked by none other than the RSPB, never mind that domesticated cats are neutered, thereby keeping their numbers under control and fed, thereby reducing their tendency to hunt, never mind all of these facts flying in the  face of their moronic fuckwittery, idiots such as Brown keep trotting out their prejudices as if, somehow, they have some high moral ground.

Cats have been hanging around mankind for millennia. They are a form of low-level pest control. What they do, despite idiots such as Brown claiming otherwise, is natural. And, naturally, the cat haters queue up to complain that cats shit in the garden. Yeah, so do dogs, badgers, foxes and any other animal passing through. Grow the fuck up and get over yourselves. Bury it if you find it, just as I do.

So, for all the cat haters out there, some kitty porn.

  1. This kind of nonsense really dismays me. Of course cats will hunt, it’s in their nature, but the argument that they deplete bird populations is ridiculous. If cats didn’t get them, something else would.

      • If there is bord-decline in some areas – & there is ..
May I suggest other causes (IF the RSPB hasn’t already?)
        Magpies
Grey Squiirels ( though our unspeakably cute Borman tom-kitten has had five of them so far … )
Habitat destruction in the coutryside by agribusiness – anyone seen a lapwing recently?

  2. Andrew Brown’s published article in The Telegraph about pet cats preying on wild birds should in no way imply he is a cat hater.

    Read his article subject header:
‘Aren’t cat owners responsible for all the wild birds their pets kill?’

He has a hobby pleasure of bird watching and providing safe environment in his garden to observe the wild birds. His neighbours’ pussy cats prey on the birds and thus deprive his freedom to pursue such hobby protecting and learning about wild birds. What can he do within the law to get rid of the offending cats? Simples, write an article based on his experiences of the problem, and also in it, directly point out cat owners have a responsibility to stop their pets assaulting any neighbours garden wild bird watching pleasures.

Meaning cat owners should find ways to deter their pets hunting in their neighbours property. The pros and cons arguements about how many wild birds pussy cats kill is irrelevant to the said Andrew Brown article.

    • You cannot control cats’ hunting instinct. It’s the way that they are. Domestication has taken the edge off it – If Brown had a feral colony living next door, he would have something to complain about. The problem is as I have pointed out, over-stated, hence my contempt for idiots like Brown. Cats and birds exist perfectly well side by side and birds come into my garden unmolested by the local cat population. They are not decimating the wildlife and I’m tired of repeated, stupid articles claiming that they are and that cat owners need to take control of them. They cannot. The law recognises this.

‘Aren’t cat owners responsible for all the wild birds their pets kill?’

      No.

      • The problem is not over stated. There is no problem period. So I too have contempt for people who whine about cats killing wild birds.

‘Aren’t cat owners responsible for all the wild birds their pets kill?’ Of course not. For all the reasons you have stated. But if a bird loving neighbour complains to me my cat has stalked or killed wild birds on their property what should I do to maintain friendly relations with said neighbour? I am not responsible for the actions of my cat, but I am responsible for the reaction caused by my cat’s action. And how you or I would deal with that is the real problem. Therefore the cat which cannot be controlled is not the problem. People are. As you say, ‘the law recognises this’.

        • If, instead of writing a whiny article in the Telegraph, Brown installed a humane deterrent device as recommended by the RSPB, he wouldn’t even have to discuss it with his neighbour.

It’s worth mentioning that if you go to the article via the main Telegraph page, as opposed to here, you get this:

Cat owners are in denial about their murderous pets

Anyone who equates predation with murder forfeits any right to be taken seriously.

  3. The comments are astounding too, another reason to believe Guardianistas live in a wibble planet made solely of their own over-wrought and irrational prejudice.

    • I rather like raptors…

Actually, there are all sorts of things that cause mortality in birds. Cats are likely to be taking those that are already doomed.

  4. Interesting that some people take issue with cats defecating in their garden.

There’s a reason why that stuff plants grow out of is called “soil”.
