No Politics Here

Railway stations that is.

Network Rail has decided that the puerile campaign being waged by the terminally stupid National Union of Students, being political in nature has no place on its stations.

In a statement Network Rail said: “As a politically neutral organisation, we do not allow political activity on our stations and this applies to any forms of advertising or campaigning.”

Fair enough. We see enough posters telling us what we should vote or think as it is. So, yeah, when waiting for a train, I’m happy not to be  bombarded by someone else’s political views.

It’s a shame, then that there are at least two posters from this organisation at my local station. Given that they are an undisguised attack on the Kippers and are a blatant attempt to influence the election, they are most certainly political in nature.

  1. So you can get posters which merely confirm to the world that you are an unworldly tosspot suffering from arrested intellectual development – and must pay through the nose for said confirmation material…

I must start something similar – heaven knows, there are sufficient morons out there for it to become a nice little earner…

    • When I was night manager for a printing press I frequently left flyers on trains destined for the rush hour. Flyers containing cut and paste text and images from sites such as this. Ted, get yourself a decent press and some design software, stir in a bit of stirring, and you’re made. Where do I subscribe?

      • I have full CS5, and as a recently retired** graphic designer, still have contacts (and even friends) in the printing industry. I’ll give it some thought…

**Taking into account the requirements/demands of our motley collection of felines and my SWMBO, it appears though that ‘retirement’ is better expressed as ‘under new management’…
