There is no need to “panic” about Muslim primary school teachers wearing the full-face veil in class, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Williams, has insisted.
He said concerns that young children would struggle to learn from a woman whose face was covered were “largely misplaced” and that there are other ways to “read” what people are saying.
Fuck off, you dhimmi moron. The reason the veil is inappropriate is partly because we communicate largely through non-verbal means and almost entirely because this is not an Islamic theocracy. In a liberal, open society, people – especially in roles such as teaching – do not hide their faces from those with whom they are communicating. Williams may be in favour of a medieval misogynistic society – after all, it helps keep the proles in their place – but in our modern and supposedly enlightened world, the veil is an anachronism and one that should be shunned. Once again, he demonstrates that he is a disgrace to enlightened thinking.

To be fair, the guy does go to work in a dress and silly hat, and pretends to speak for his invisible friend in the sky, who is, apparently, entirely responsible for all creation. Can you imagine a woman teacher in a full face veil teaching her little charges about British values? Would one be bright enough to ask her why she didn’t adhere to British values. Frankly I would tell her to adopt Western dress or get out of public service.
