I am Spartacus

To paraphrase Timmy, dear ASA, please see the reply given in Arkell v Pressdram (1971).

As with others, I have no strong opinion one way or the other about the issue of gay marriage –  I just don’t care about it; so much so, that I am underwhelmed with indifference. I do, however, care deeply that people are being suppressed by quasi agents of the state in response to political pressure from those who disagree and are playing the offence card. So, to those arseholes, I say; freedom of speech means tolerating speech you don’t much like –  even if it does offend your delicate little sensibilities. You are offended? So fucking what? Get over yourself already and grow up.

In the meantime, I am Spartacus. They can’t close us all down.

  1. The “Campaign” has now gone international. I have posted it in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden/Norway.

Due to the fact that “case law” normally means this kind of shite will effect the rest of Europe as well, I feel the international coverage is important.

  2. Precisely.
“Cranmer” is wrong, but actually, I could not care – like you.
The ASA, should, properly, tell the complainers to stuff it.

  3. Lesson Taught for the umpteenth Day, for the umpteenth Time and in the umpteenth Year of our entire history: Everyone will do as they are told.

Lesson Learned for the umpteenth yadda yadda etc etc: No, they won’t.

    Rinse & Repeat. 😐

  4. “…freedom of speech means tolerating speech you don’t much like”

I’d go even further, it means defending the right of folk to express speech/ideas you don’t like.

  5. “I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it.”
    Voltaire,(attributed).
It’s called FREE SPEECH. Defend our right to speak as we will.
