Oh, Do Grow Up

I see that the public sector continues to take itself far too seriously –  well, at least UNISON, their union does. In response to Jeremy Clarkson’s typically hyperbolic comments on The One Show the other day, they are outraged and offended. Indeed, they are demanding that Clarkson be sacked and are looking at what can be done legally –  possibly involving the police. Because, you see, over the top –  obviously over the top –  exaggeration is not only offensive to those with tissue paper thin skins, it is “intolerable” and “unacceptable” and, oooer, it’s “hate speech” and “incitement to violence”.

No it fucking isn’t. It was Clarkson playing to the gallery (and saying pretty much what the rest of us are thinking anyway). It’s what he’s paid to do. No one –  except a compete fool with their head shoved so far up their arse they can do their own dental checks –  seriously believes that he was actually suggesting anyone be killed. Do grow the fuck up, please.

When did this country lose its spine? Rhetorical question…

  1. Oh but won’t you think of the children!

The One Show is broadcast at a time when children are watching – they could have been scared and upset by his aggressive statements. An apology is not enough – we are calling on the BBC to sack Jeremy Clarkson immediately. Such disgusting statements have no place on our TV screens.

    Dave Prentis – cunt. 👿

  2. As far as I am aware, the outraged are relying on a version of the story in which Clarkson’s words were taken badly out of context. What he actually seems to have said was that he thought that the strike had been brilliant due to massive reductions in traffic which had made driving much easier. He then stated that this being the BBC he had to provide a balanced view so then stated that the strikers should be dragged out of their houses and shot in front of their families to make that point. If this is indeed the case then the coverage of this on BBC Radio 2 has been nothing short of disgraceful as they only played the second half of the clip.

I still think that he is a juvenile pillock but also think that everyone should be allowed to speak their mind and then be prepared to be called out if they talk like an idiot.

  3. Frankly Dave Prentis couldn’t have made himself look more of a charmless, cretinous cunt if he’d changed his name to John Bercow.

    Beer >>>> keyboard 👿

  5. He then stated that this being the BBC he had to provide a balanced view…

Indeed and it was obvious that he was having a light hearted poke at the idea of a balanced viewpoint by giving two views, the second being a Colonel Blimp type.

  6. Just the same …
Incitement to murder is a serious crime.
Both Clakson, and now Delingpole (Daily Telegraph) have commited this crime.

But, since Delingpole is a serial liar, why should we take any notice of his ranting idiocies?
    And, I suppose, Clakson.
    The man’s an obvious idiot.

  7. For saying strikers should be shot Unison act in a manner that strongly suggests they would like Jeremy Clarkson to be shot.

    Irony. 🙄

  8. Unison and it’s members should be thankful that they don#t live in a socialist state like Cuba, where trade unionists are taken out into the street and shot.

  9. WTF? ‘Should be taken out and shot’ has been used since time immemorial (well, as long as I can remember – I’m an OAP)to signify incompetence/displeasure/pissed-off in general with an individual or group. Its use in these circumstances is well understood.

It has never been considered a serious comment nor has it been taken to be offensive.Ever.

None of this alters the fact that Clarkson is a twat.

    🙄

(I couldn’t see a “point and laugh at the arsehole” smiley so that’ll have to do)

  11. Hmm… These ‘outraged’ people… Would they be similar to the ones who call for the death of people they don’t agree with? The ones who say they will dance on Thatchers grave for example? There’s more than one way to be a ‘hater’ chaps.

    Teacup storm. Nothing more.

Jeremy Clarkson is an entertaining fellow, but as with cars and his rabid dislike of motorcycles, not one to be taken seriously.

  12. On this week’s ‘Panorama’, covering the PFI ‘initiative’, one Andy Black, former advisor at the Department of Health, offered a solution to this particular tax-payer rip-off. His idea? He would “Drop a hydrogen bomb on the NHS PFI Unit”. Officer; arrest that man!
