The Sun newspaper is 40 today. Forty years of lies, tits and an all-round lowering of our standards, morality and expectations.

I couldn’t have said it better.

Do you think that if the Sun had come out in favour of Brown, the left-wing blogocracy would have been so vociferously critical? Not a chance! Sure there would have been a few comments concerning page 3 and Murdoch’s political ambitions but not a lot else. After all the Mirror, although not scraping the taste barrel as assiduously as the Sun is also a tastefree bag of shite (and with Kevin Maguire as crapper in chief). However, it’s still solidly behind Brown and, not unconnected, there’s not a lot of adverse comment from the left concerning the Mirror.
