The Perpetually Offended

Jeremy Clarkson is the latest target of the perpetually offended.

Scottish politicians have urged the BBC to take Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson off air after he called prime minister Gordon Brown a “one-eyed Scottish idiot”.

There’s plenty I could say here, if I hadn’t run out of ranting steam. Following the Righteous’ mass wank over Carol Thatcher’s recent indiscretion, it must be becoming clear that Britain is no longer the land of free speech and expression – even to those who had been previously unobservant.

However, what has Clarkson actually said?

Scottish – statement of fact.

One-eyed – statement of fact

Idiot – statement of fact.

So, it seems, truth is also verboten in the Righteous’ new Britain.

Lord Foulkes makes a fantastically cretinous statement:

He has insulted Gordon Brown three times over – accusing him of being a liar, having a go at him for having a physical handicap and for his nationality.

So calling someone Scottish is now an insult… And:

It is an absolute outrage of the worst kind. Disabled people will be up in arms about it, Scottish people will be angry – and it should concern all of us that the prime minister has been accused of lying.

He is a liar – this is a matter of observable fact. It’s what politicians do best. As for the rest, anyone who feels insulted really ought to grow a thicker skin and start behaving like an adult instead of a perpetually offended nine-year old.

It really is about time that these fuckwits grew up – or better still, it’s about time the British people told them to shut the fuck up.

I trust that Clarkson will do a Carol Thatcher and refuse to apologise, as none is necessary and it only encourages the poisonous Righteous in their destruction of civil liberties in Britain.

  1. “I trust that Clarkson will do a Carol Thatcher and refuse to apologise…”

In inimitable Clarkson style, he’s gone one better….and apologised only for the ‘one eyed’ bit! 😉

  2. Lord Foulkewit missed a group. Idiots will be up in arms too. They might not be sure why, but they will be.

Well, who wouldn’t be, when compared to that Caledonian cyclopean cretin?

Oh, and it does concern all of us that the Prime Monster is accused of lying. It concerns us even more that he’s been caught at it, over and over, and still does it.

  3. I was having a bit of a ponder on this topic this morning. I ended up concluding that
    1. not only should we adopt the long standing practice of not believing any government pronouncement (rumour?) until it has been officially denied, and that
    2. we should recognise that anything channelled through the Ministry of Truth must be will have been biased, but additionally now
    3. we should not believe anything unless someone has been forced to apologise for it.

  4. Reproduced in full, and yes, I did send it.

    Dear RNIB,

No, hang on, that doesn’t set the tone properly for what is to
come, let me try that again …

Dear patronising self righteous f*ck heads.

Better. Now then, who am I to be insulting you?

I am a partially sighted person, and you have deeply offended me.
    I demand an apology.

I am quite sure that I would have remembered had I been invited to a
big meeting of all the blind/partially sighted people in the UK,
and had we all been balloted and elected you as our representatives.

Maybe I just didn’t see the memo eh ? (See that ? That was a joke,
at my expense, and it was FUNNY).

At no point do I remember giving you the authority to represent me,
to be offended on my behalf, or, being so offended, to waste your
time and money on my behalf pursuing a pernicious and pathetic
media campaign against a second rate TV presenter speaking Australia,
    of all places.

Yes, I am offended by your appalling behaviour in regard of one
    Mr J Clarkson.

Had Mr Clarkson expressed some sentiment which dehumanised b/ps people,
or suggested that they were somehow inferior to others, or deserving
of less rights, then I can see why you might feel the need to make a fuss.

Under the circumstances you are not only wrongheaded, but acting way
outside your remit. You are a charity whose aim is help blind/partially
sighted people who need to be helped. It is not, I am sure, within your
charter to act as the executive branch of the thought police and to suppress
the freedom of speech of others.

Freedom of speech is the most basic human right, and supporting it
demands that you allow people to say things that you find offensive.

In this case, I do not think that Mr Clarkson said anything offensive,
which simply makes it worse. I was not offended, The Prime Minister
himself seems not to care a fig, and frankly his opinion is the only
one that matters. I am sure he is called worse things every day,
probably even to his face, I for one have called him much worse than
a “one eyed Scottish idiot”, at the moment for instance, I favour
“lazy eyed, slack jawed, f*ck wit”.

Let ne reiterate that I am partially sighted, but also point out that it
would make not one jot if I were not. It is my right to say offensive
things, if I so please, and it is the PM’s right to be offended, if he
    so chooses.

What has it to do with you ?

I demand that you issue a public apology, you must apologise to Mr
Clarkson for attempting to oppress him in the vilest way, you must
apologise to the Prime Minister, for seeking to take umbrage on his
behalf, which is an act of awful patronisation on a par with asking
one’s care “does he take sugar”, as you should wee know.

You should apologise to the entire b/ps community for the same reason,
you are not our representatives, how dare you presume to speak for us,
individually or en masse, how dare you arrogate to yourselves the right
to be offended on our behalf, as though we incapable of thinking for
ourselves, and how dare you pursue an individual and have the brazen
vanity to demand that he apologise for something he said about somebody else.

I feel that you will most likely disagree with my position, so I will play
by your rules, I am quite prepared to hook up with the tabloid media,
playing the “PC gone mad” card, which they will just love, I am quite sure,
and participate in a frenzied media campaign to force you to apologise in
    public.

I await your (prompt) response with great interest.

    Sincerely, etc.
