Well, of course they will - big business is pretty much in the pocket of the state. The two feed off each other.

Questions expecting the answer "No, Do you want your teeth smashed in?!"

I think most of us regardless of our economic orientation ;-) can agree that the State can piss off when it comes to such shite and their lack of any genuine need to know it.

Because tell me insurance firms aren't going to be desperate to get their hands on that sort of information...

Well, that's true enough... However, the message that I really want to get across loud and clear to those charged with asking the questions is that the state should not even be contemplating asking for this information and I suspect that a straightforward refusal made often enough would hopefully have that effect.

The surveyor who called last year had a somewhat resigned approach when I refused - I got the distinct impression that I wasn't the first.

Still, it would be amusing. ;)

You could of course choose to make mischief depending on whether the survey is anchored to you personally.

The admission of predilection for sex in a Catherine the Great style might ruffle a few feathers! Or that you have been a serial gang-banger for decades...!

Telling them to naff off whilst right and proper will just get them to go to someone else who will probably be dragged out of bed early in the morning and too tired to resist. Whilst wrecking the efficacy of such an endeavour may make them think twice about future such draconian schemes.

Kryten, yes, possibly so. We were targeted last year for the house condition survey. I gave them short shrift on that occasion. That being so, I doubt they will try again.

Id suspect the ONS are going to target the existing households that take part in their ongoing analysis.

As one of those households who takes part (but doesnt divulge stuff like financial info), they will certainlt get a resounding "fuck off" from me if they ask these questions.
