Let Us Prey

Filed under: Personal Stuff, Photography — Longrider @ 15:25 pm

I made a start on the garden today. The grass was close to five feet tall in places and needed cutting. Whizzing round with a motor mower is a therapeutic activity. Once finished, a long cold drink in the shade of the walnut tree feels well deserved. It is then that I can take the time to quietly observe the teeming life around me in the trees, bushes and now well trimmed grass. It was while sipping my drink that I noticed this character.

Not sure I’d want to mess with her…

Blogging Will Be A Bit Thin

Over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be in jolly old France

However, I’ll have the laptop with me, so I’ll probably post the odd thought or two - from the French perspective…

Er….Beam Me up?

Filed under: Humour — Longrider @ 10:28 am

There’s a right to-do going on in Scotland at the moment. Linlithgow council has announced plans to commemorate Montgomery Scott, chief engineer of the USS Enterprise. Yes, she of captain James T Kirk fame. The plaque was supposed to have Scotty’s date of birth as 2222. Anyway, a spat has ensued as Aberdeen, Elgin and Edinburgh try to get in on the act, claiming that he came (will come?) from there. Local Trekkies claim that the date of birth is 2120. So it’s all getting a bit messy - and Linlithgow council is commissioning a report to assess the economic benefits of the idea.

Is it just me or is the idea of commemorating a fictional character who hasn’t been born yet - and never will - a bit, well, preposterous?

Felix Domesticus

Filed under: Blogs & Blogging, Personal Stuff — Longrider @ 04:38 am

I’ve been updating Felix Domesticus. I decided that as I wanted to use custom portlets and the same theme that I’ve created here, going premium was the only way. Oh, well, that’s fifteen quid gone. I like the end result, though. Just hope it’s all worth it…
